     Mrs Anna C Mortensen of Stevens, SD, died in a Sioux City hospital Friday after a lingering illness.
     Born in Norway, May 20, 1867, Mrs Mortensen came to America 42 years ago, settling at Pomeroy, IA. Two years later she came to Sioux City and had lived here and at Stevens since, with the exception of eight months spent in New York state. She was a member of the Danish Lutheran Church
     Besides her windower, Rasmus Mortensen, she is survived by 10 children and 18 grandchildren. The children are: Arthur of Aberdeen, SD; Rudolph of Sioux City; Earl and Norman of Stevens, SD; Mrs Rose Wilcox of Portland, OR; Mrs Martha Golden of Sioux City; Mrs Alma Comstock of Sioux City; Mrs Esther Sorenson, of Sioux City; Mrs Marie Lynott of Sioux City and Miss Lillie Mortensen of Sioux City
     The body is at Nelson - Berger's funeral home pending funeral arrangements.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Anna E. Mortensen, 63 years old, of Stevens, SD, who died in a Sioux City Hospital late Friday of complications, will be Monday afternoon at 2:30pm in the Danish Lutheran Church, Rev Carl Olsen will officiate.      Mrs Mortensen had resided in Sioux City and Stevens 40 years.

     Services were held Nov 17, 1975 for Mrs Conrad M Pederson, Pastor Murley A Severtson of Zion Lutheran Church officaited at 2pm in Ward Van Slyke Funeral Home.
     Mrs Harry Mason was organist, Mrs William R Bickford was soloist. Pallbears were Lyle Hullinger, Clair Davidson (?), B.B. Bailey, Syd Thompson, Harold Crane, Ron Ostendorf and Lawrence Peterson. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.
     Mildred Lydia Pederson was born Sept. 4, 1896 at Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Edward and Lydia (Cook) Kentoff. She received most of her education there. In 1912 the family moved Chicago, Ill.
     While visiting in Fort Dodge with a sister, she met and was married to Conrad M. Pederson on Feb 14, 1922.
     In 1924 they moved to Clear Lake where Mr Pederson was with the Western Weighing Bureau of the Railroad System, based in Mason City.
     Mr Pederson died in 1949 and Mrs Pederson continued making her home alone for many years. She later made her home north of Clear Lake with her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and DuWayne Jensen.
     She had been in the nursing home for the past 11 months, where she died on Thursday evening, Nov 13, 1975 at the age of 79 years, two months and nine days.
     Besides her daughter, Dorothgy, she is survived by a grand-daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Jo Ann) Philpot, St. Paul, Minn., one sister, Mrs Earl (Margaret) Smith of Chicago.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one brother.

     Dorothy Christine Knudsen Mortensen, 85, a resident of Pottsville, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at the Atkins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
     She was born Feb. 7, 1922, at Hubbard, Nebraska to Henry Mads and Hanna Amanda Mogensen Kundsen. She married Chris Mortensen on Jan. 20, 1944, and the couple became members of the Christian Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses in 1977. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 20, 1994; a brother, Don Knudsen; a sister, Elsie Thomas; and a grandson, James Caleb Mortensen on Sept. 3, 2005.
     Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Ann Mortensen of Pottsville and Gary and Cathy Mortensen of Reeds Spring, Mo; a brother, Ralph Knudsen of Fremont, Neb; a sister, Juanita Nordgren of Springdale; three granddaughters, Casey Mortensen Brown of Hector and Michelle Schmid and Heather Satchel both of Colorado Springs, Colo; and seven great-grandchildren.
     The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at the Shinn Chapel with Ken Morphis officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Jim Amey, Neil Webb, Loyd Cates, Dan Dennis, Dave Kibler and Carl Apple.
