Delores Marie Lowe, 86, died January 4, 2017, at the Independence House Memory Care, Lincoln. Delores was born January 20, 1930, in Jefferson County, Neb., to Walter and Emma (Renzelmann) Buchmeier. She was baptized in 1943 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury. She graduated from Fairbury High School in 1947 and had been employed by Hested Stores and lived on the family farm until she was married.

On August 12, 1951, she was united in marriage to James K. Lowe of Mahaska, Kan., at the Methodist Church in Fairbury. While her husband was enlisted in the Air Force the couple lived in Ralston and moved to Parkville, Mo. In 1960 they moved to Lincoln where the family were members of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Delores was a part time employee of the Nebraska Council of School Administration and Avon Sales for many years. After her children were grown she joined the LWMGA and served as secretary for the association 1994-1995 and loved golf. She also was a member of the Old Cheney Home Owners board of directors for four years. She loved sewing, gardening, bowling, genealogy and cooking for her family.

Delores was the dear wife of 56 years to Jim Lowe who died in 2007; loving mother of Karen Rowe (Rick Carney), Kathleen and Bobbie Kitchen, Nancy Niemeyer (Dave Pedersen) and Daniel Lowe (Kelley Jones). She had seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Doyle Lowe of Lincoln, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Darrell Buchmeier, sister-in-law Marge Schoen, sister Donna Cook, brother-in-law Joseph Cook, sister-in-law Darlene Lowe, son-in-law Michael Niemeyer and grandson Jordan Niemeyer.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, January 9, at Butheras, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 40th & A Streets. Burial following service at Lincoln Memorial Park. Reception following burial. Memorials to the family.2
