Frank E. Cornelius, age 93, of Johnson City, died unexpectedly at his residence Sunday, February 4, 2007.

A native of Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of the late Robert and Cecilia McCole Cornelius. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church since the early 1950?s. Mr. Cornelius was an Army veteran of World War II, serving during the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He attained the rank of First Lieutenant through the officers Candidate School and served in the 791 st Military Police Battalion. Mr. Cornelius was a partner at Standard Forms Printing Company. He worked for Kale Bindex, and served on the Trust oversight committee. He was a Hamm Radio Operator since the 1950?s with his call letters K4EAV. Mr. Cornelius was an avid photography enthusiast.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cornelius was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Mast Cornelius in 1998. One brother, Robert Cornelius; two sisters, Evelyn Sotschecz and Dorothy Smith.

Survivors include his two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and James Kidd, Cecilia and Eddie Campbell, all of Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Catholic funeral service for Mr. Cornelius will be conducted on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Father Gerald Finucane, OP officiating. The family will receive friends in the East Parlor of the Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 8, at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home Thursday at 1:30 to travel in procession to the cemetery.

To those who desire to send memorials, may do so in the honor of Mr. Cornelius to either of the following organizations: St. Mary?s Catholic Church, building fund, 2211 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601; or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society- Mid South; 4219 Hillsboro Road, Ste 306, Nashville, TN 37215.
