Morning Sun - Dow Lorenzo McKinney, 89, of Morning Sun, died Monday at the Poage Nursing home, Wapello.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, Oct 14 at the Pierce funeral home, Morning Sun, with Rev Edward Fish officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood cemetery, Morning Sun.
Mr McKinney was born May 23, 1875 at Scioto County, Ohio, the son of William and Rachel Odle McKinney. He came to Iowa as a young man.
Married to Lulu Cornelius, Mr McKinney farmed in the Morning Sun Community. He was recognized as an expert operator of theshing machines and his services were in constant demand during the harvesting season. He was a 50 year member of both the Masonic and Odd Fellow lodges.
Surviving are his wife, a patient at a nursing home at Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Howard, Indiapolis; a grandson, James, Le Mesa, Ariz.; and two great grand children. Also, two brothers, Thomas and William, Lucasville, OH. Preceding him in death were three brothers and three sisters.1
