Hemmig, 68, of Lafayette passed away Friday, November 29, 2013, at St. Elizabeth East. She was born April 10, 1945, in Lafayette to the late Vernie and Shirley Unger Gipson. Eva was a 1963 graduate of Dayton High School and on November 8, 1967 she married Don Hemmig in Dayton and he survives. Mrs. Hemmig worked at the US Post Office and is retired. She had formerly worked for Indiana Bell and then GTE. She was a member of Stockwell United Methodist and enjoyed horse back riding, playing the piano, knitting and spending time with her friends and family. Surviving along with her husband are her children Tony R. Hemmig wife Dawn of Delphi, Andrea L. Walker husband Aaron of Lafayette, grandchildren Heather, Kayle, Jimmy, Mitch and Ryan and great grandchildren Khloe and Liam. Also surviving are brothers Bill Gipson of West Lafayette, Dale Gipson wife Micki of Lafayette, John Gipson wife Judy of Clarks Hill, sisters Verna Mann of Lafayette, Bonnie Phillips of West Lafayette and Ida Reese of NV. Eva was preceded in death by brothers Jim and Charlie Gipson, sisters Marjorie Gipson, June Siler and Suzie Gipson. Visitation will be from 11 AM until time of service at 1 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Stockwell United Methodist Church, Rev. Mark Berg officiating. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. She married Carl B. Wiemann on March 30, 1931, in Hokah, Minn. After Carl graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, they lived in Stevens Point, Wis., for ten years before moving back to La Crosse. Evelyn was a charter member of the Women of the Moose in La Crosse and was a past Senior Regent. She was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway. She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Fritz) Kesselring and Carol (James) Ballas, both of La Crosse; grandchildren, James Ballas Jr., Christopher Ballas, Kirsten Ballas, Nicholas Ballas, Sheryl Mortenson, Michael Wiemann and Eric Wiemann; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Angeline Gilbertson, Esther Gilbertson and Alicia Brieske, all of the La Crosse area. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl B. Wiemann Sr., a La Crosse chiropractor for many years; her son, Carl B. Wiemann Jr.; five brothers, Robert Rehfuss, Norman Rehfuss, William Gilbertson, Gerald Gilbertson and Richard Gilbertson; one sister, Lucille Moe and an infant sister, Carol Ann. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 420 West Ave. S., La Crosse. The Rev. Kristine Fahey will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater La Crosse. The SchumachernKish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family with arrangements.¹

Obituary	2 Jul 1959	Obituary: The obituary for Frances was recorded on 2 Jul 1959. Mrs. Frances Gilliam Webster, 58, widow of Raymond J. (Pop)Webster, and a Harrisonburg resident for a number of years, died unexpectedly at noon on Wednesday in Petersburg, where she had been making her home since 1955. Mrs. Webster was born on October 7, 1900 at Yale, in Sussex County, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Gilliam. She came to Harrisonburg and graduated from Madison College where she met Mr. Webster. They were married in 1921 and Mrs. Webster lived in Harrisonburg until 1955 when she moved to Petersburg. She was the assistant manager of the S&H Green Stamp store there. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She is survived by four children, Mrs. Bruce M. Wells, of Richmond, Mrs. Emerson M. Nelson Jr., who is with her husband in the Army in Equador, G. Gilliam Webster, Louisa, and Raymond J. Webster Jr., who is in the Army stationed in Germany, nine grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Eunice McFarland, of Petersburg, and Mary l. Gilliam, serving in the Woman's Army Corps in Colorado, and one brother, Lewis M. Gilliam, of Petersburg. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the chapel of the Lindsey Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Dale Johnson, officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery. The Daily News Record Harrisonburg, Va. Thursday, July 2, 1959¹

Memo (fam)	(1991)	Memo: [From the Ocheyedan, IA Centennial (1891-1991)] Albert Glade, son of Frederick and Dorothea Glade, was born May 22, 1886; and his wife, Matie Riebesehl Glade, was born September 19, 1890, at Webster City, Iowa. In 1894, she and her parents, Henry and Dora Riebesehl, and twin sisters, Etta and Emma, moved to a farm north of Ocheyedan. They farmed 106 acres and later added another 80 acres, which Matie received from her parents. They milded many cows and also raised chickens, geese, and turkeys. Matie attended college, after which she taught school. They had six children - four girls and two boys. Dorothy, the oldest, who was married to Oscar Schmid, lived on a farm near Spencer. They had four sons. After Oscar's death Dorothy married Carl Schmid. They live in Spencer. Frances, Mrs. Ralph Jensen, lives in Windom, MN. Ralph and Frances have one daughter and two sons. Leonard and his wife, Gladys Hattendorf, live north of Ocheyedan. Most of his work has been in construction, building mainly churches and commercial buildings, some of which are in Ocheyedan. He also served in the armed forces during World War II. Wyman is married to Lois Behling from Beemer, Nebraska. Albert Glade kept farming the 106 acres until Wyman got married, when they moved to Worthington, MN. Wyman and Lois moved into the farm house, and in 1956, Wyman bought the 106 acres. They have five children: Russel, Sandra, Carolyn, Dvorak, Lynette Tracy and Terry. In 1984, the farm was declared a Century Farm. Wyman retired and moved to Ocheyedan. His son, Russel, lives on the farm with his wife Lorenda, and son, Eddie. They are the fifth generation on the same land. Wyman is deceased. Elaine and her husband, Frank Stewart, live in Casper, WY. They have twins, a boy and a girl, and another son. Marilyn, the youngest, lives with her husband, Ernest Schauland, in Red Wing, MN. They have two daughters and three sons.²

Memo (fam)	(1991)	Memo: [From the Ocheyedan, IA Centennial, 1891-1991] Arthur Glade was born in Horton Township on November 7, 1888, the last of thirteen children born to Frederick and Dorothea Glade. Rose Osterman was born on August 26, 1895, near Struble in Sioux County, Iowa, to George and Sophia Osterman. She was the first of their thirteen children. In 1911, she moved with her family to Ocheyedan, where they settled in Horton Township. Here she and Arthur met, both being members of Zion Lutheran Church. They were married there on September 20, 1916. Their marriage was blessed with nine children: three sons and six daughters. All of them were born on the original Glade homestead one mile north of Zion church, where they farmed. The winter after their fifth child was born, they were quarantined with scarlet fever for many weeks. All of their groceries and other necessities had to be brought to them by someone else, since no one was allowed to leave thir place. Whenever the childhood diseases came around, it was usually a long siege; because if one of them got it, they all got it. The year the mumps went around, the first one got them a week before Thanksgiving, so the holidays came and went with someone sick with the mumps. No one in Arthur's family could remember if he had had them, so they assumed he had. But, sure enough, it was well into March when he came down with them too. As the family was growing up, a Model T Ford became the family car. On Sunday morning eleven people, parents and children ranging in age from teenagers to an infant, piled into the Model T to drive the mile to church. Very often the roads were muddy and rutted. In the winter when deep snow covered the roads, the mile trek was made with horses and a bobsled. Sometimes fences were temporarily taken down to map a route through fields where the snow was less deep than on the roads. One of the residents of the farm for many years was a big, white, mean rooster. Why he didn't find his way to the soup kettle long before he did was always a mystery, since during his lifetime he attacked more than one member of the family. For many years Rose raised geese - over 100 of them every year. In the spring before the goslings had their feathers, everyone made a mad dash to get them in whenever it rained, as they would die if thy got wet. In the fall when they were ready for market, several aunts came to help pluck them, and the old summer kitchen was literally knee-deep in feathers for a day or two. Those feathers ended up in feather beds and many pillows. Lillian, the eldest, was the first to leave the nest when she married Hans Osterman in the summer of 1936. Marjorie followed about three years later when she became the wife of Wendell Butcher, who at that time was a professional athlete with the team then known as the Brooklyn Dodgers. They subsequently had two sons. During World War II they moved to California, where Wendell worked in a defense plant. Kenneth was employed by a farmer when he met Alice Fisher from Milbank, SD. After their marriage, Kenneth spent 38 months in the Army Air Corps, where he was trained as a crew chief on B-26 bombers. They became the parents of a son and a daughter. Kathleen married Dr. Gary Gonnerman, a chiropractor. He set up his practice in Ocheyedan for a few years, then moved to Humboldt, Iowa. Steve married Marilyn Sinner. They have two sons. Steve is branch manager of Northwest Iowa Co-op Elevator in Allendorf, IA After attending the University of Iowa for some time, Duane also enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He became a pilot on a B-25 bomber. After World War II he met and married Jewell Hays, a widow with a small daughter. They became the parents of one son. Marie also moved to California during World War II. There she met and married Lee Pruett, and they have three daughters. La Vonne married Lyle Dirks, who was also in the Army Air Corps as a B-17 pilot. They are the parents of three sons and four daughters. Naomi and Mavis followed their sisters to California. There Naomi married Bob Hill. They had two sons and a daughter. Mavis married Bill Miller, and they had two daughters. Loren married Mary Paulsen. He then spent time in the army of occupation in Germany after World War II. After he was discharged, eh got a degree in forestry at the University of Montana. He has spent most of his life since in Montana. He and Mary had one daughter. In the spring of 1940, the family moved from the farm into Ocheyedan. Arthur spent the rest of his working years as a carpenter. Rose was a cook for several years at the Walther League Camp on West Lake Okoboji. After that she was a familiar face on Main Street for many years. There she worked for "Butch" Falk in his meat market and later managed a doughnut shop. After 59 years of marriage, Arthur passed away in September 1975. Rose had been a widow for nearly ten years when she died in June 1985. They were grandparents of 22 and great grandparents of 24 children. The family also has been diminished by the deaths of Lillian Osterman, Alice Glade and Wendell Butcher.⁸
