| Obituary | Apr 2005 | Obituary: The obituary for Charles was recorded on Apr 2005. Charles F. McHenry, 91, of Flora, IL, died April 5, 2005, in rural Clay County. Mr. McHenry was born March 6, 1914, in Clay County, the son of Charles A. and Ella August Blackburn McHenry. He married Pansy Wolfe June 18, 1942 in Miami, FL. He had been employed at Flora Lumber Company and was an area farmer. He attended the First Baptist Church in Flora and was a World War II U. S. Navy Veteran. He was a member of Flora Masonic Lodge and Flora Elks Lodge. Charlie was an avid horseshoe pitcher, hunter, fisherman, storyteller and had a true concern for others. Survivors include his wife; a son, C. Patrick McHenry; a daughter, Sue Leamons; five grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Peters and Geneva James. Graveside services were held at Floral Garden of Memories. Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora was in charge. Memorials to Flora/Clay County ESDA and Effingham County Divers and Rescue.4 |
