Seybert, 88, passed away peacefully at home on November 18, 2010. He graduated from Goshen High School and Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering. He furthered his education studying at Columbia University and M.I.T. He taught engineering at the Purdue Campus in Michigan City, Indiana. He was married on June 7, 1947, to Hilda Dippon Seybert from Milford, Indiana. He served in the Navy as a Radar Officer for four years during WWII earning the rank of Lieutenant, JG. His ship, a destroyer, was adjacent to the USS Missouri when the Japanese surrender was signed at the end of the war. He spent his entire career with NIPSCO, living across northern Indiana where he was very active in civic affairs. He served as president of two Chambers of Commerce, the YMCA, Kiwanis, Rotary, school board, Pottawattomie Country Club, Boy Scouts of America, One Hundred Percent Club, the Summit Club, and was active in Junior Achievement, Scottish Rite and Shrine. While living in Michigan City, the town set aside a day and proclaimed it "Paul Seybert Day" where they celebrated his many accomplishments. In his retirement, he served as vice-president and treasurer of Wayne Steel Supply. In addition to his civic service, Paul loved spending time with his family boating on the Great Lakes or at their winter home in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Paul was a 33rd degree mason, past Thrice Potent master of Scottish Rite and past Potentate of Orak Temple. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and has served as an Elder. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Paul is survived by his wife, Hilda, his daughter, Paula Rae Reckley (Stephen) of Elmhurst, Illinois, his son, David (Patty) Seybert of Fort Wayne, five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and a sister, Stephanie Heyde, of Granger, Indiana. The Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
