He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crete where he attended its parochial grade school. After graduating from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, Ill., in 1932, he attended the Greer College of Manual Arts in Chicago. On April 25, 1936, Harry was united in marriage with Lucinda M. "Sally" Wassmann of Ormsby, Watonwan County, Minn. Following their marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Ormsby, they made their home in Crete, where they lived for 50 years. Harry was employed at the Victor Chemical Company in Chicago Heights, and subsequently as plant engineer at the Stauffer Chemical Company in Joliet, Ill. In 1986, Harry and Sally moved to rural Waynesboro, Augusta County, and in August 2004, Harry moved to the Blue Ridge Christian Home near Raphine, in Rockbridge County. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Waynesboro. Mr. Piepenbrink died Oct. 27, 2004, at the age of 90 years. Survivors include one son, Howard H. Piepenbrink of Alexandria; and two daughters, Carol A. (Mrs. Reuben) Moore of Calabash, N.C., and Ruth P. (Mrs. George A.) Coyner of Waynesboro; five grandchildren, Reuben L. Moore, Nathaniel J. Moore and wife, Jennifer, Leslie A. Moore Argenta and husband, Chris, Anne Coyner Schatz and husband, Ryan, and Mary Coyner Adams and husband, Charlie; two great-grandchildren, Hendrick Leonard Moore and Lucas Coyner Schatz; one sister-in-law, Florence Johnson Piepenbrink; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Sally; his parents; one sister, Verna L Piepenbrink; and one brother, Robert E. Piepenbrink. A memorial service will be held Friday (Nov. 5, 2004) at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church. Interment to take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Crete, Ill. Honorary pallbearers will be Martin Haemker, Paul Haemker, Walter Oestermeyer, Tom Piepenbrink, Tim Piepenbrink, Steve Piepenbrink, Charles Nibbe, Paul Haertel and Harry Smith.
