Employed with Burlington Northern Railroad for 18 years in the Havelock Shops, Building Superintendent with Liberty Life Insurance for 15 years. He was with the Navy and Marine Corps during WWII and participated in the Landing of Saipan Island. Member of American Legion Post # 3, Moose Lodge, Calvary United Methodist Church, DAV & VFW, Former Member the Eagles Club.

Survived by wife, Shirley Busboom, of 63 years, Lincoln; son, Leo Busboom Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; daughter & son -in-law, Jeanette & Eugene Barker of San Diego, Calif.; and daughter, Rosemary Freeman of Gadsden, Ala.; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 God children. Preceded in death by parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be Monday 9 am-9 pm and Tuesday 9-11 am at funeral home and the family will be present Monday 6-7:30 pm. Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 10, at 11 am at Butherus Maser and Love Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Officiating will be Dr. William Hunter. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Dorothy Christine Knudsen Mortensen, 85, a resident of Pottsville, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at the Atkins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Feb. 7, 1922, at Hubbard, Nebraska to Henry Mads and Hanna Amanda Mogensen Kundsen. She married Chris Mortensen on Jan. 20, 1944, and the couple became members of the Christian Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses in 1977. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 20, 1994; a brother, Don Knudsen; a sister, Elsie Thomas; and a grandson, James Caleb Mortensen on Sept. 3, 2005.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Ann Mortensen of Pottsville and Gary and Cathy Mortensen of Reeds Spring, Mo.; a brother, Ralph Knudsen of Fremont, Neb.; a sister, Juanita Nordgren of Springdale; three granddaughters, Casey Mortensen Brown of Hector and Michelle Schmid and Heather Satchel both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at the Shinn Chapel with Ken Morphis officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Jim Amey, Neil Webb, Loyd Cates, Dan Dennis, Dave Kibler and Carl Apple. The online obituary and guestbook are available at www.shinnfuneral.com. Viewing will be open until 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.4
