He was born Aug. 12, 1907, in Havana to Edward and Daisy Buckles McKinley. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James C. (Maxine J.) Palmer of Biloxi, Miss., and Mrs. Eugene (Sharon K.) Nation of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Clyde S. McKinley, one grandson, one brother and one sister. According to a Jan. 4, 1944, Peoria Journal article, he worked at Caterpillar Inc. during World War II, where he invented a pneumatic attachment that removed finished parts from the fixture and guided them into a tote box. He received an commendation for the invention, which increased production by 73 percent. He later owned and operated Mac's Coal Delivery in Pekin. There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will be accorded and burial of ashes will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Gideon Living Memorial Bible Plan, P.O. Box 983, Tremont, Ill. 61568.1 |

Dow Lorenzo McKinney Morning Sun - Dow Lorenzo McKinney, 89, of Morning Sun, died Monday at the Poage Nursing home, Wapello. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, Oct 14 at the Pierce funeral home, Morning Sun, with Rev Edward Fish officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood cemetery, Morning Sun. Mr McKinney was born May 23, 1875 at Scioto County, Ohio, the son of William and Rachel Odle McKinney. He came to Iowa as a young man. Married to Lulu Cornelius, Mr McKinney farmed in the Morning Sun Community. He was recognized as an expert operator of theshing machines and his services were in constant demand during the harvesting season. He was a 50 year member of both the Masonic and Odd Fellow lodges. Surviving are his wife, a patient at a nursing home at Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Howard, Indiapolis; a grandson, James, Le Mesa, Ariz.; and two great grand children. Also, two brothers, Thomas and William, Lucasville, OH. Preceding him in death were three brothers and three sisters.1 |

Neoga News, (Neoga, IL) 26 October 1933 REUBEN MCKINNEY, CIVIL WAR VETERAN, DIES TUESDAY Reuben McKinney, Civil War Veteran, died at his home here Tuesday Morning at 2:30 from a long illness due to the infirmities of age. The funeral will be conducted this afternoon (Thursday) at 2:30 o'clock in the M.E. Church,, Rev, C.W. Sedgwick officiating and Rev. John Ferguson of the Free Methodist assisting. The music was furnished by a trio composted of Miss Mary Wallace, Mrs. T.J. Witwer and Mrs. L.K. Veris, Mrs. G.F. Dougherty, accompanist. Pallbearers were Ed Young, C.M. Crockett, T.E. Husband, A.J. Kepp, Lewis McGinnis, and another whose name we could not get. Burial took place in Neoga Memorial Cemetery. Reuben McKinney, son of Mr. and Mrs. James McKinney, was born in Brown County, Ohio April 6, 1847. The family later emigrated to Jasper County, Illinois. Mr. McKinney was married to Miss Malinda Taylor of Richland County, Indiana, on October 8, 1871. To them were born three children: Albert McKinney of San Francisco, Calif.; James McKinney of Fowlerville, Mich.; and Mrs. Joe Lichtenwalter (Edna) of Shelbyville. He, with his family, came to Neoga in 1880, and for twelve years, he was engaged in farming in the Gaskill vicinity. While residing there, Mr. and Mrs. McKinney joined Gaskill Chapel M.E. Church. When they moved to town in 1892, their membership was transferred to Neoga M.E. Church. Mrs. McKinney died May 6, 1896. He was married a second time to Miss Catherine Lewis of Neoga on June 15, 1897, Rev. R.H. Osborne of the M.E. Church performing the ceremony. He was a private in Co. G. 136 Regiment, Illinois Infantry. He enlisted May 13, 1864 and was honorable discharged October 22, 1864 in Springfield. He leaves the wife and three children. H.P. of this place is half-brother.
