Services will be announced later by the Shaw-Messer Chapel. Mrs. Gronewold was making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Gerald Johnson, rural Henry, following the death of her husband. She was born Oct 4, 1892, the daughter of Jacob and Fannie Adams. On Jan 28, 1914 she married Herman P. Gronewold at Paxton, Ill. Mr. Gronewold died Feb. 16, 1956 in rural Watertown. Mrs. Gronewold has been a resident of Codington County for more than 50 years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert Ching, Castlewood; and Mrs. Gerald Johnson, rural Henry, and nine grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.⁶

Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Panama Methodist Church. Mrs. Manning died at 2:40 a.m. Monday, April 5, 1999, in Integrated Health Care Service, St. Louis. She was 99 years old on September 29. She spent most of her life in Panama, moving to St. Louis about three years ago. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was born in Cardiff, a daughter of Ulysses and Margaret Savage Alderson. She married Frank "Tut" Manning on December 23, 1915, in Hillsboro. He died in 1967. Surviving are daughters, June Harper of St. Louis and Maxine Shultz of Ocala, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Vera Ray and a sister, Mildred Parks Ludwig.¹
