Memo1802The following is from page 379 of History of Brown County 1883 W.H. Beers and Co.

Israel was an early settler of Pleasant Township. He brought his wife, Charity, and twelve children to Brown County from Bardstown, Nelson Co., KY in 1802 or 1803. His father's family was farming on Long Island during the Rev. War. When the British took possession, his father was given the choice of swearing allegience to the King or losing the property. He chose the latter and moved his family to Chatham, New Hampshire and later, Israel came West. Israel lived in Union Township for a year, then purchased 200 acres off the north part of the Rhea Survey, about two miles east of Georgetown, and moved to it. The land was not cleared, but he found an abandoned cabin of some previous squatter and he lived in it for 18 months. He then built himself a substantial log cabin. He had been a house carpenter, but devoted himself exclusively to farming. He died at the home place at a good old age. William Jennings, the youngest child, lived in the same house at the time of publishing (1883) and was 82 years old.4
Will9 August 1828Will: Israel Jennings signed a will on 9 August 1828 in Brown, Ohio, United StatesB. WILL OF ISRAEL JENNINGS OF BROWN COUNTY, OHIO

I, Israel Jennings of Pleasant Township and Brown County and State of Ohio, do take my pen in my hand to write my last will and testament.
Whereas I am in my eighty-fourth year of my age and I expect soon to depart this life, God's will be done, being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory and blessed be God for the same, my will is as follows, that is to say I bequeath my spirit to God, who gave it and my body to the dust from whence it came, as to my earthly interest I do make and publish my last will and testament in manner and form as follows. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Charity Jennings two beds and all the furniture thereunto belonging and two tables and one cupboard and the cupboard ware and one bureau and six windser chairs; and one third of all my other personal property and real estate during her natural life, and I do also give and bequeath unto Israel Jennings my dear beloved son ten dollars, and I do also give and bequeath unto Eleanor Jennings my daughter-in-law ten dollars, and I do also give and bequeath unto Thomas Jennings ten dollars, and I do also give and bequeath unto Mabel Jennings ten dollars, and I do also give and bequeath to Mary Ross ten dollars, and I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Charity Turner ten dollars, and I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Livy York ten dollars, and I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Deborah ten dollars, and I do also give and bequeath unto Lydia Davis ten dollars. The above money above mentioned to be paid to them by Israel Jennings and William Jennings in two years from my death and I do give to my grand daughter Deborah Hicks five dollars, and I do also give five dollars to my grand son Moses Hicks to be paid to them when they come of age, and I do give and bequeath unto Isaac Jennings and William Jennings my sons two thirds of all my personal property after taking out what household property I give to my dear wife Charity Jennings, and do give and bequeath unto Isaac Jennings my son and William Jennings my son all my real estate unto the said Isaac and William to take two thirds in possession at my death the other third at the death of my dearly beloved wife then in that case the said Isaac and William is to have full possession of all my real estate and to be the sole owner of the same and I do appoint Isaac and William Jennings to be executors of this my last will and testament to be sole Executors and administrators.
In witness thereof I have set my hand and seal the ninth day of August in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight.
