Virginia was born March 16, 1922, to John and Florence Hitt. She married Ralph Kuklentz and started a family in Sioux City. She had a daughter, Maureen, and a son, Ronald. Over the years, she was employed as an elevator operator in the Badgerow Building, a store clerk at Three Sisters Dime Store and a hostess at Milwaukee Wiener House for many years before retiring. She enjoyed going to town and walking around the mall. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-granddaughter, Johnna. She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Thompson-Lowman and her husband, Joe of Connelly Springs, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Kuklentz of Richland, S.D.; six grandchildren, Linda Rivers and her husband, Ed of Newton, N.C., Richard Thompson and his wife, Neelie of Drecksal, N.C., Julie Derochie and her husband, Dick of Sloan, Iowa, Jackie Pirner and her husband, Randy of Sioux City, Angel Groephe and her husband, Larry of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Lori Rabbi and her husband, Staci of Akron, Iowa; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence Hitt; her husband, Ralph Kuklentz; a son, Ronald Kuklentz; and an infant great-grandson. O 4 |

Lillian was born in Andover, S.D. on Sept. 19, 1922, to Edwin and Clara Hitzeman. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. She received a commendation from Women in the Military Service Memorial. Lillian and her husband, William moved their family from San Jose to Siskiyou County in 1957. She was very active with the senior center in Yreka. She drove the Little Shasta School bus for four years. Lillian was a member of the Horse Creek Community Church for 46 years. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Lee and Bill Nowdesha of Shasta Lake; daughter Kathy Scheid of Yreka; sons and daughters in-law William and Karyn Shelvock of Charleston, S.C. and Richard and Suzanne Shelvock of Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, William Shelvock in March of 2002; and by a brother, Raymond Hitzeman. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. June 12 at the Horse Creek Community Church, with Pastor Jeff Pratt officiating. A potluck will be held at the church following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Horse Creek Community Church, 28836 Hwy. 96, Horse Creek, CA. Girdner Funeral Chapel are in charge of arrangements.5 |
