Raymond Lewis Holt Monday, September 15, 2003 Raymond Lewis Holt, 56, of Boonville, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in Boonville. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Born May 26, 1947, in Decator, Ill., he was the son of the late Wiley Austin and Dorothy Adele Jennings Holt. On April 4, 1998, in Boonville, he married Barbara Jean Cramer, who survives. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He had worked for the city of Boonville in the Department of Sanitation. Additional survivors include one daughter, Corinne Holt of Marshall; five sisters, Frances Smith of the state of Kansas, Carol Holt of Fulton, Jennifer Grene of Malta Bend, Betty Daniels of Hannibal and Helen Teltamble of Hannibal; and one brother, Wiley Holt Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, one son and one grandson.¹

At that time, Dorothy had three older children: Frances Henry, Raymond Holt and Carol Holt. Dorothy and her husband Wiley Holt were going through difficult times and decided it would be best to give Beverly to another family to be raised. Dorothy and Wiley later went on to have three more children: Clara Helen, Betty Lou, and Jennifer Lynn Holt. They also had two grandchildren, Wiley and Stella. Tragically, in 1963 while living in Mokane, Mo., Dorothy passed away while her husband was hospitalized and unable to care for the children. Raymond, Carol, Clara, Betty, Jennifer, and grandson Wiley were all put up for adoption in Fulton, Mo. Raymond soon turned 18 and was not adopted, Carol was adopted to a family in Fulton, Mo., Clara was adopted to a family Palmyra, Mo., and Jennifer and Betty were adopted by the Minor family in Hannibal, Mo. To this day, no one knows what happened to little Wiley. While in their teens, Betty and Jennifer spotted their sister Clara (now called Helen - her name was changed when she was adopted) at her high school graduation. In 1994, after tracking down the grave site of their mother, Betty and Jennifer were able to find their mother's one living sister, Florence Littleton of Dixon, Mo., and gather enough information to find their oldest sister Frances, brother Raymond and sister Carol. They were reunited after 33 years apart. After the 1994 reunion, there were murmurs about baby Beverly who was given up for adoption. The siblings had come to the realization that no one had enough information to try and find her. They only knew that Beverly was born between Carol and Clara. They thought they might still be able to find little Wiley who was about 5 years old at the time of his adoption, but believed baby Beverly would never be found. In 2003, Raymond passed away, leaving behind his five sisters. “They only wished they had more time with him,” said Heather Greene, Jennifer's daughter. In July 2006, while searching for information in hopes of finding little Wiley, a family member stumbled across a post that was made on Ancestry.com. It said that there was a woman named Beverly looking for her brother Raymond and her parents Wiley and Dorothy. By the end of that wonderful Sunday, Beverly was speaking to her sisters for the first time in 55 years. In October 2006, all of Dorothy's girls gathered together for the first time in Fulton for an incredibly joyous and tearful reunion. They shared many stories, photos, and countless hugs.
