Henry M Brandt ANCHOR - Funeral services for Henry M Brandt, 77, who died at 3:45 pm Monday at his home near Anchor, will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday at the Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City. The Rev Alexander Youck, pastor of St John's Lutheran Church near Anchor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Sibley. He was born jan 20, 1883, at Sibley, the son of Mr and Mrs Henry Brandt. He married Anna Margaret Huisman on March 16, 1911 (sic 1909) at Sibley. He farmed for many years near Anchor before he retired 10 years ago. Survivors are two sons, Louis of Tremont and Albert of Sibley; four daughters, Mrs. Viola Brookstra, Elgin; Mrs Bernice Shreves, Paxton; Mrs Mildred Jamison, Elliott; and Miss Norma Brandt, at home; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two sisters, Mrs Flora Stroh of Sibley and Mrs Tena ?arley of Crescent City, and two brothers, John of Sibley and William of Strawn, also survive. Memo (fam) | Memo: (The following is a newspaper article about the family of Henry M Brandt.) Henry M Brandt Henry M Brandt, Jr. was born not too long after his parents immigrated to the United States from Germany. They settle in Ford County in the early 1800's and farmed three miles northeast of Sibley, Illinois. They had eight children born to them six boys and two girls who all became farmers in different parts of the country. The oldest sons became wheat ranchers in the state of Washington. The other children stayed in and around Ford County and became farmers. Henry married Anna Huisman in 1910 and he farmed in Livingston County for a year and then rented the Horace McClure farm 6 miles northwest of Gibson City where he farmed for twenty years. They raised six children when they lived on the McClure farm. Viola (b. 1910) graduated from Drummer Township High School in 1931. She worked at the Elgin National Watch Company for 21 years. She married Gerald Brookstra in 1951. He worked for the Chicago, Milwaukee Railroad and died in Feb. 1956 of a heart attack. Then she married L. Paul Lowe in 1960. He taught school in southern Illinois and retired in 1972. He died in 1975 Bernice graduated from Drummer Township High School in 1931. She married Floyd Shreves in 1939 and they live in Paxton. Floyd is retired from the Gas Company after 23 years of service. Louie was married to Marguerite Taylor. Louie did some farming with his dad and served in the armed forces during World War II. After his discharge from the service he worked for Doc May in construction. He died in April 1981. Marguerite works part time at the Gibson Hospital. Albert was also a farmer and served in the Navy during World War II for a couple of years. After his discharge from the service he farmed the Edith Ashley Farris farm until his retirement in 1981. He is married to the former Gerdy Blanck of Buckley, Illinois and they live in Sibley, Ill. Mildred is married to Leslie Jamison and they have made their home in Elliott, Illinois most of their married life. Leslie was Township Road Commissioner for a number of years. Norma Jean is married to Jean Lehman. They live in Urbana, Ill. Norma was a beauty operator but gave it up after marriage. Jean is in the heating and air conditioning business. Henry bought the Troyer farm in 1935 and lived there until he died in 1960.1 |

Mr. Brandt died at 2:25 am Thursday (Jan. 25, 1996) at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. He was born Nov. 12 1915, in rural Gibson City, a son of Henry and Anna Huisman Brandt. He married Gertrude B Blanck Feb. 14, 1940, in Rensselaer, Ind. She survives in Sibley. Other survivors include two sisters, Bernice Shreves of Gibson City and Mildred Jamison of Elliott; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Mr. Brandt spent his entire life in the Gibson City-Sibley areas, except for two years from 1943 to 1945 when he served in the US Navy. He attended the North Union rural school near Gibson City. He and his wife farmed in the Sibley area for 34 years, retiring in 1966. He was baptized at the Sibley Lutheran Church and was confirmed at the Anchor Lutheran Church in 1929 by the Rev. A Hahn. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley; Sibley Sportsman's Club, American Legion Post No. 244 of Sibley, AmVets Post No. 276 of Elliott and VFW Post No. 6289 of Gibson City. Memorials may be made to the organ fund of St. John's Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.1 |

The family suggests memorials be made to the Elliott AMVETS. Millie was born Aug. 30, 1919, in Sibley, the daughter of Henry and Anna Brandt. She married Leslie W. Jamison on May 10, 1937, and lived with him in Elliott over 70 years. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Richard D. Jamison of Ellsworth and Larry E. Jamison of Gibson City; 11 grandchildren, Annette (Paul) Rutledge, Tim (Linda) Jamison, Steve (Mary) Jamison, Melody Jamison, Guylon (Tina) Jamison, Lisa Young, Troy (Amy) Jamison, Matthew (Tina) Jamison, Melissa Jamison, Brandy (Jerriah) Miller and Dusten Jamison. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Thomas H. Jamison, three sisters, two brothers and two daughters-in-law. Most important to Millie was her love for her family and friends.2 |

Maebelle Huisman FOREST - Maebelle Huisman, 93, a resident of Heritage Manor, Gibson City, formerly of 335 S. Beech St., Forrest, died at 1 pm Tuesday (Jan. 23, 1996) at the manor. Her funeral will be at 10 am Friday at St. James Catholic Church, Forrest, with the Rev. Scott Archer officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Hager Memorial Home, Forrest, where a prayer service will be at 8 pm. Memorials may be made to her church or to a charity of the donor's choice. Survivors include one daughter, Lois Wessels, Champaign; one son, Elmer Huisman, Forrest; one sister, Elizabeth Howard, Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A sister-in-law, Mary Howard, Forrest, also survives. She was born March 22, 1902, at Dewey, the daughter of Orilie and Katherine Winkle Howard. She married Elmer Huisman Sr. Dec 22, 1925, at Rantoul. He died April 18, 1979. Two brothers, and one sister also prceded her in death. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Forrest, and its Altar & Rosary Society.2 |

Huisman, 72 of 107 Parkview Drive, Forrest, died at 9 pm Tuesday (June 12, 2001) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. His funeral will be at 11 am Friday at St Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Chatsworth. Father Richard Brunskill and Father Scott Archer will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Cemetery, Forest, with full military rites accorded by J.A. Folwell American Legion Post of Forrest. Visitiation will be from 4 to 8 pm today and 9:30 to 10:30 am Friday at Hager Memorial Home, Forrest. Memorials may be made to St James Catholic Church, Forrest or Prairie Central Youth Football League. Mr. Huisman was born July 12, 1928 in Sibley, a son of Elmer and Mae Belle Howard Huisman. He married LaVonne Head on Dec 27, 1950. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Beth (Steve) Weeks, Forrest; Becky (Steve) Wahls, Chatsworth; and Barb (Steve) Werning, Urbandale, Iowa; one son, Bob (Joni) Huisman, Plano, and one sister, Lois (Warren) Weisels, Champaign. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Sarah and Ryan Weeks; Lacy, Tyler and Carson Wahls; Josh Werning; and Thomas and Matthew Huisman. Mr. Huisman was a rural mail carrier and a seasonal IRS employee. He was a member of St James Catholic Church, Forrest; VFW; Forrest American Legion; Indian Creek Country Club; McLean Country Senior Golf Association; and was a former little league coach. He was a Forrest High School graduate and had attended ISU. He was a four-year Navy veteran in the Korean War. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, and life.1 |
