Rites Monday For James Claus, Drowning Victim. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church here Monday morning for James Claus, 3, son of a former Berlin couple, who drowned at Otter Lake near Eagle River last Friday afternoon. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Claus, who lived in Berlin before moving to Milwaukee several months ago. Moore St. Vilas County authorities reported that the youngster wandered away from the cottage where his parents were vacationing with another Milwaukee couple, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stater, at about 3 p.m. Two airplanes joined ground parties in a search for the boy in the heavy timber country. His body was found in the water near a pier. Otter Lake is about three miles north of Eagle River. The Rev. Charles D.E. Monroe, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiated at the high Mass of the Angels for the boy. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. Surviving besides his parents are his paternal grandparents, Oscar Claus, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Molly Claus, Berlin; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kirchoff, Berlin, and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
