Miscellaneous Update - Saturday, February 1, 2020
I’ve been having increased problems with my vision over the last 2 or 3 years. Nothing to do with the trial, just the fact that I’m getting old. So, I talked with my eye doctor and he agreed that cataract surgery would help. So, I had my right eye done on 12/10/2019 and my left eye done on 1/14/2020. For each of these surgeries I stopped taking the ibrutinib 7 days before until 7 days after each surgery.
Side effects: After restarting the ibrutinib each time, the GI problems and mouth sores come back for a week or two; after that they sort of stop. I mentioned earlier that my toe (L1L) had surgery on 10/1/19. While it stopped oozing, it didn’t completely heal until we stopped ibrutinib for my December cataract surgery. Oh, a couple of other toes are looking like they are about to start oozing. Wonderful!
