SIOUX CITY | George "Frank" Brinkerhoff, 74, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, near Mason City, Iowa, while on RAGBRAI doing what he loved.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel (Northside), with the Rev. Steven McLoud officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Frank was born May 16, 1940, in Sioux City, the son of John and Lillian (Comstock) Brinkerhoff. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Central High School. After graduation, Frank entered the United States Navy. Frank was lovingly known as being able to fix anything. While most of his life revolved around building and customizing Volkswagen Beetles, his latest passion was bicycles. He enjoyed customizing and fixing up old bikes for children in need. Frank was an avid cyclist and enjoyed countless hours biking across the United States. He was the president of Siouxland Cyclists, and a member of the Sertoma Club, SIMCO, Blue Zone and Eagles Club.

Frank is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Franette and husband, Robert Vaughn of Kansas City, Kan.; son, Frank Brinkerhoff of Ventura, Calif.; stepdaughters, Richelle Burr of Sioux City, Sheri Griese of Sioux City, and Keri and husband, Dan Acosta of Peoria, Ariz.; several grandchildren; a brother, John Brinkerhoff of South Sioux City; and a sister, Peggy Stotz of Wickenburg, Ariz.
